What is DSL and how is it different from dial-up?
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) uses your existing phone line to deliver a high-speed, always-on broadband connection. Unlike dial-up, DSL doesn't tie up your phone line and you don't need to dial in — you're connected 24/7 at speeds up to 178× faster than a standard 56K modem.
Is DSL available in my area?
DSL availability depends on your distance from the telephone central office. Call 1-800-NH-SURF to check availability at your address. Dial-up service is available nationwide with local access numbers in over 300 cities.
Do I need any special equipment for DSL?
DSL Starter plan includes a free DSL modem rental at no additional charge. DSL Plus and Pro customers receive a modem to keep. You'll also need a DSL filter for each phone you have — these are provided free of charge during installation.

Can I keep my current email address?
All NetHarbor members receive a free @mynetharbor.net email address. If you're switching from another ISP, we recommend forwarding your old email during the transition period. Our tech support team can help set this up.
What is the "Hi-Speed Dial-Up" V.92 feature?
V.92 is the latest modem standard. It includes QuickConnect which remembers your ISP's modem settings to connect up to 50% faster, and Modem-on-Hold which lets you put your internet connection on hold to answer an incoming call — then resume browsing without reconnecting.
Is there a contract or cancellation fee?
No long-term contracts required on any plan. Cancel anytime with no cancellation fee. Your 30-day free trial period begins on the day of activation. DSL modem must be returned upon cancellation for Starter plan rentals.
